Sam R. Schmitt [they/he] is a doctoral candidate in Multicultural Women and Gender Studies at Texas Woman’s University and holds a Master of Arts in Criminal Justice from Washington State University. Sam brings a passion for the Sexual Assault Kit Initiative after researching sexual assault kit (SAK) accumulation at the rural Washington/Idaho border. Sam joins MNCASA after several years teaching in higher education and coordinating student anti-violence activism in the South and Midwest. Outside of work, Sam runs a small publishing collective of disabled LGBTQIA artists and writers and is active in the global zine community. Sam enjoys art, baking, and spending time with their cat, Leo.
