Hunter Beckstrom is the Prevention & Exploitation Specialist at the Minnesota Coalition Against Sexual Assault. Since joining in October of 2020, Hunter has focused on developing collaborative relationships with youth organizations by aiming to prevent sexual violence at its root. Furthermore, Hunter also assists teams across the state in creating Safe Harbor Protocol in order to create multidisciplinary and supportive responses to sexually exploited and/or trafficked youth. In general, Hunter’s responsibilities include providing technical assistance, resource creation, community education, and developing trainings.
Hunter has been a part of the anti-violence movement since 2015 when pursuing his bachelor’s degree from Winona State University. Hunter has also received a Master’s degree in Gender & Women’s Studies from Minnesota State University, Mankato. Hunter has previously held positions at the Advocacy Center of Winona, Committee Against Domestic Abuse (CADA), The Link, and various positions of advocacy and education at his alma maters.
When not at work, Hunter enjoys walking around the lakes of the Twin Cities, traveling, reading, spending times with loved ones, and making plans to one day have a small hobby farm with tons of animals.
