Kia Whittier has been working in the sexual and domestic violence field since 2016. As the Underserved Populations Support Advocate at Standpoint, Kia is responsible for developing, facilitating, and expanding programming to respond to the specific legal needs of underserved communities across the state of Minnesota. Kia has experience in the non-profit sector as a Civil Legal Advocate and Youth Advocate – assisting a diverse range of clients through complicated systems. She also has experience working with the college student population as a Legal Advocacy Diversity Coordinator at the University of Minnesota. Kia’s interests include a wide range of social justice issues, from racial, education, economic, and reproductive justice, to decriminalizing poverty, investing in communities, and abolition of the carceral state. Kia volunteers with Planned Parenthood Federation of America as the Social Chair and Storyteller for the National Storytellers of Planned Parenthood and is an active volunteer with Planned Parenthood North Central States. She is heavily involved in her community in South Minneapolis and believes true transformation comes when communities are united.
